My sister was off for Christmas as her baby’s daycare was closed, so that seemed the perfect time to visit; off to North Carolina we flew! Needing to get our 100th hike in for 2022, we got my sister and niece to go with. She took us to a park that she had been to but our niece hadn’t. We weren’t sure how a 2 year old would do but she did great and only got a ride on Cory’s shoulders at the very end.
Our niece was happy hanging out with her favorite uncle in the back seat.
Later we learned these were bald cypress trees.
One of the Rockefellers’ summer homes and a neat stop on the trail.
We did a brief “photo shoot” of my sister in the quilted jacket she made. She did the whole thing from scratch, so cool! She makes a lot of neat things and we craft when we get together.
The lake (or pond?) on the property was frozen in many areas which had us surprised. It was in the 40s, but the freeze a few days before must have been enough!
The last little bit and our niece wanted to ride on her uncle’s shoulders. She did pretty well for a 2 year old! Still happy as you can see. This kid loves being outside!
