My husband bought these dining chairs as a set of 6 while living in Texas. I love them. They are comfortable and I think the longhorn has a great southwest vibe that I can’t help but love. When the fabric on the seat started getting worn on a few (mostly ripped at the edges) I knew they needed to be reupholstered soon. Luckily for me, I had just made new cushion covers for our backyard swing and had that fabric on my mind. As it turned out I had exactly enough to do all 6 chairs with none leftover!
I measured the fabric and cut into 6 equal squares as I had just enough for this project. To measure I used a measuring tape and measured from the edge of the material on the underside, across the top and to the opposite edge underneath. I did the same for the opposite direction.
I unscrewed the seats from underneath with a drill. I put them cushion side down on the fabric, making sure the pattern placement was going the right direction each time. Then I used my staple gun to staple the fabric to the back, keeping the tension even the whole way. I used hot glue to tack the edges after just to give it a finished look, even though you’d only ever see it if the chair was flipped over. Then I used the drill to screw the seats back on.
Tah -dah! Better than new (or cuter)
