I have posted about Mt Rainier in fall and all its glorious colors to be seen. I have been there also in rain where you could not see the mountain, and in spring when Paradise has 15 ft walls of snow where we trekked around enjoying the snow day to return later to Portland to warm, sunny spring weather. A couple of weeks ago we went to Rainier for what turned out to be a beautiful summer day after the clouds lifted.
We weren’t sure at first we would be able to see Rainier as the clouds hugged it on our way to Paradise.
We saw wildflowers all over the place!
We did a 4 mile hike starting at Paradise and going up. It was a perfect day for it with all the expansive views, wildlife and wildflowers we saw.
Around this part of the hike we saw a lot of anemone occidentalis.
The most majestic marmot there ever was if ever there was a majestic marmot.
We watched this marmot for a while as he walked around, then went sploot! Down on the snow to cool off. So relatable haha!
As I overheard some remarks about our doing this hike in sandals, and one lady was impressed and called me a warrior (that was cool), I have to recommend my shoes and Cory’s. Mine are Merrell sandals that have a sole that fits to your foot. Cory is wearing muck boot brand sandals that he basically never takes off. He even wore them climbing around in the Ape Cave.
The marmots were hilarious!
