Who doesn’t love a good tv show? After making a post about my favorite books and movies I recommend, I thought making a post about tv shows was fitting.
Gilmore Girls- My all time FAVORITE tv show. It’s 7 seasons long and ran from 2000-2007. If you are unfamiliar, it’s about the relationship between a once-teenage mom and her now teen daughter and their lives in a small town in Connecticut. There is a lot of dialogue, much more than your average show. For that reason it works really well as something for me to listen to while I paint. Episodes are about 45 minutes long.
Kim’s Convenience-5 seasons from 2016-2021, Canada. Kim’s Convenience is a Canadian show about the Kim’s, a Korean Family living in Canada who run a convenience store. The dad is hilarious, the mom is always at church and worried about pleasing the pastors, the daughter is an aspiring photographer and the brother works at a car rental. The dynamics of the family make it a lot of fun as do the cast of people in their neighborhood. The episodes are short and fun so it’s not a big time commitment.
Old Enough!- Japan- I am not entirely sure on how many seasons this ran for as Netflix (where I have seen it) has one season and the dates are all over the place. This show is about toddlers- preschool age kids running errands on their own. The kids overcome a lot of their fears to run the errands and couldn’t be any cuter. It’s truly amazing what they accomplish so young. Episodes are short and have subtitles. Give it a try!
After Life- England, 2019-2022, 3 seasons- After Life is a dark comedy starring Ricky Gervais as a widower in a small town in England. The series shows him missing his wife Lisa and while missing her slowly healing to have a life again. It’s sad but so funny at times as the people he is surrounded by are a crazy lot of characters.
Schitt’s Creek- Canada, 6 seasons, 2015-2020. Schitt’s Creek is about a wealthy family that loses all their money and (for lack of options) moves into a small town while trying to get back on their feet. They are all out of touch with reality and the townspeople have to help them a lot. The title sounded really stupid to me so I put off watching it for a long time, don’t make that mistake. It’s hilarious and one of few shows to really show character growth over the story arc. It’s heartwarming and ridiculous. Episodes are short, 20 something minutes a piece.
