After a trip to Crater Lake National Park I realized we could drive through Umpqua National Forest and do the Toketee Falls hike! Cory and I hadn’t been in that part of the state before except passing through sort of nearby on a different highway.
We saw Mt Thielson on the drive and stopped for pictures as I had only ever seen it online. It’s pretty distinctive with its crooked pointy peak.
We got to the parking lot at the Toketee Falls trailhead and saw a huge leaking pipe that looked like something out of Final Destination. We parked anyhow as others had and figured we would be quick! Haha
As you can see the trailhead marker explains the leaky pipe, though it looks much better in their photo.
This hike has you follow a beautiful stream through the forest and up many stairs.
The trail ends in a rounded tree-house type platform high above the falls.
The drive through the National Forest leaving there was very beautiful and largely followed a winding river. Eventually we came up to some of the prettiest farmland. It was getting dark so I didn’t get many pictures.
We saw many other waterfalls, hiking trails and campgrounds listed as we drove past. It was such a beautiful place we definitely want to go back and explore more!
