Yellowstone is America’s original National Park, and it’s my absolute favorite. The landscape is so colorful, at times noisy, even smelly in parts, both sweet and stinky. It’s a rainbow you can walk in and as a painter I daydream about it often. I’ve painted several scenes from my trips to Yellowstone, and I believe I will continue to paint scenes from there for a very long time.
In this post I’ve included paintings with their inspiration. This place is so special to me; painting it feels like a way to relive the memories.
I painted a crop of the panoramic pic I took at Grand Prismatic Hotsprings.
I’ve painted several paintings based off of pictures I took in the Lamar Valley and Cory has made buffalo-shaped frames for them as we always see buffalo in that part of the park.
Sylvan Lake looked especially beautiful in a fresh coat of snow.
After much convincing, I got my parents to go to Yellowstone. My dad didn’t like the idea of being on a supervolcano, but once he was there he had so much fun get got over it really quick.
