If you have been following me and my work for any length of time you have probably seen me post something Yellowstone-related. I’ve painted landscapes from my photos I’ve taken there and posted on the blog about it previously. We spent a couple days there at the end of our month away and had a great time, as always. Also, like before, the park was a different experience in that this time it was spring in the mountains with wildflowers starting in some places and snow patches over much of the ground, save the very low spots. This being the case, we got to see baby bison! We have both seen bison each time at the park, but never as spread throughout and never with all the calves! We started calling it the trip of the bison.
I saw so much I want to paint!
The lodge at Old Faithful
Old Faithful steaming a little like it always is
The museum building at Old Faithful
We went outside to wait for Old Faithful and she went off about ten minutes early, so we were glad we went out in time and had a seat. It’s such an impressive show!
We had seen buffalo all day, but we were seeing more and more and later, younger and younger ones! It was incredible!
She started walking up to the boardwalk/bridge
Birds were landing on her back before she got to the bridge/boardwalk. Look at that tongue! So cute!
We kept an eye on distance and her body language. I’m glad my phone has a good zoom!
I love the colors of Grand Prismatic. This day, with the sun at this angle, it made the water really look like glass.
We were so excited to see the buffalo calves!!!
Young buffalo getting scratched by a large rock.
We decided this curious calf was trying to read the sign.
