While on our recent road trip we went to Capitol Reef in Utah on the way to our destination. It is a fold in the earth’s crust caused by a fault. With all the erosion added to this the landscape is pretty wild with pink and orange walls to wander between and lots of patterns on these walls that you can’t help but think about the processes that created them.

I have long wanted to go to Bryce Canyon National Park and finally got the chance when we were able to work it into a road trip to see family. It was worth all the wait! Bryce has the highest concentration of hoodoos on the planet and hiking among them (especially at around 8000 ft elevation) was a really magical experience. I already want to go back!

My friend Megan was visiting and we wanted to make her trip extra fun as last time she was here there were many wildfires keeping us indoors much of the time. We checked the weather and went on a sunny perfect day. The fall colors were really amazing and I cannot recommend Bench and Snow Lakes trail enough!
